How To Write A Song

In the last lesson we added the left hand to a simple progression of chords that ended up sounding a lot like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I've used the term chord progression before, but now I'm going to define it. A chord progression is a series of chord in order. A popular chord progression is root, fourth, and fifth. In the key of see those are the C, F, and G chords. Let's put these skills to work on a song.

With the left hand play the root note of the chord and with the right hand play some broken chords. See how easy it is to create music? Practice playing and see how the chords sound in relation to one another. You can give the chords a more full sound by adding the fifth to the left hand. Keep on practicing, the more you create, the better you'll get.
